240km
-
80% Off road
It's time for a hearty breakfast and then we head straight off into the bush!

Today is about getting comfortable on the bikes and we ease our way into the day with a small section of asphalt before quickly waving goodbye to civilisation for a few days and heading off into the bush.

The morning sees us explore the heart of Laikipia county, as we pass through some conservancies and hopefully see some big game. For lunch we stop next to the Ewaso Nyiro river, the lifeblood of much of the region.

In the afternoon we take an easier ride through western Laikipia, the Karisia hills and toward our evening destination near Maralal.

Day 2: The Real North

100% Off road

Having acquainted yourself with your bike the previous day, it's time to get serious. Today we enter the real north. Authentic Samburu culture, unspoiled landscapes and unparalleled riding.

The morning sees us head through the Karisia hills, off the valley side and into the arid landscapes of Samburu County. We pick up the first of many dry river beds and ride it for 20km before taking another to the north.

After this, we break for a much needed lunch and a chance to get some rest in the shade before heading off to conquer the Ndoto Mountains. Some of the most spectacular formations in the country and a unique riding experience.

After passing through the mountains we arrive in the small Samburu town of Ngurunit where we rest for the day and have a swim in the natural rock pools.

Day 3: 'Lugga me up'
-
230km
-
100% Off road

If you didn't get enough of dry river beds the previous day, then this is the day for you. We ride the length of the biggest Lugga in the country, the mighty Milgis. If you've ever wondered what flying feels like, today you might find out.

We follow the river for 70km and punch back through the Ndoto Mountains, often passing elephants, camels and livestock all drinking from the numerous wells that line the river bed.

After completing the lugga, we stop for a much need lunch on the banks on the river and reflect on what's just been achieved, before turning our bikes south and heading for the sanctuary of the Kitich Valley and a cold drink.

In seasons when the river has water it in, we take the road close the river but still follow it all the way.

Day 4: Savannah Bound
-
310km
-
50% Off road

After a big rest the night before and we head back out into the Savannah. We leave the cool shaded trees of the Kitich Valley and head out into Namunyak Conservancy where we'll be on the look out for Elephants and other large game in the area.

We wind our way south and wave goodbye to Samburu county as we join the road for a small section before heading back into the bush again in Laikipia.

For lunch we break on the escarpment overlooking the terrain we just ridden through and then it's one final Safari ride before waving goodbye.
